Dh and I really disagree on this.

Bb, as a health professional I feel obligated to point out when people are sharing information that is dangerously misleading and incorrect.

Should I just let it pass so that members who come here for information leave ill informed to make any good decisions??

Don't be silly. A lot of this debate is about clearing up a lot of the myths and helping people identify good evidence and understanding what it means

PIMSoclock · 27/09/2011 23:06

No worries wannabe, like I said. I'll have a wee chat with my GP colleagues and see what the current situation is.
Happy to share x

lemonbalm · 27/09/2011 23:06

Yes, I agree that I should be allowed to post what I think I read on a link, especially with my very nice disclaimer. And I have a photographic memory which is legendary, so I'm pretty certain that I did read it. I'm hoping that whoever posted that particular link will pop up and confirm it.

It does seem odd that these threads are not allowed to proceed like other threads on MN.

lemonbalm · 27/09/2011 23:08

I suppose that is the difference. PIMS is posting as a health professional.

Blueberties · 27/09/2011 23:10

You have posted misleading and incorrect information yourself.

Of course you can point out that you think other people's posts are misleading and incorrect. It's an open forum.

You shouldn't try to make it your forum by telling people what to do. Even if you do say please.

PIMSoclock · 27/09/2011 23:10

For the record, I think what lemon was referring to is the suggestion that if people who already have HPV get a vaccine they will not give the same impotence to attending for smears resulting in a delay in their condition being detected.

There is no actual evidence to say that giving a vaccine to someone with HPV will make them more likely to develop cancer

Yes I think we all got that. It's been repeated a million times. There are health professionals who disagree with her of course.

lemonbalm · 27/09/2011 23:13

Well, just so long as we've got the best representative the NHS can muster.

PIMSoclock · 27/09/2011 23:15

Bb what have I posted that's incorrect?

I remember you reposting a few things I did with some key words missing that totally altered the meaning.

Please stick to the subject so we can share the best USEFUL scientific objective information, thanks

PIMS, no offence meant by this but you did mention earlier that you had a few sex partners in your teenage years so why did you pay to get the vaccine? You know it isn't effective if you've been exposed to hpv don't you?

PIMSoclock · 27/09/2011 23:17

Ah, so I see you have resorted to the personal insults. It's a shame you feel the need to. Shows the strength of your argument.

I'll continue to post the best info available to help people make informed decisions while you guys fight over who has the best put down for me, very clever

PIMSoclock · 27/09/2011 23:18

Bm, have never mentioned my sexual history but thanks for asking Smile

Blueberties · 27/09/2011 23:19

At least two things, off the top of my head: your claim that all adverse events reports are investigated, and your claim that all vaccines introduce antigens.

bumbleymummy · 27/09/2011 23:19

PIMS you have posted a few incorrect things eg. About the vaccines providing antibodies last night and the figures you have posted that don't tie up with the most recent CDC/Cancer Research figures and you spent quite some time insisting that screening doesn't save lives too...

bumbleymummy · 27/09/2011 23:20

You did actually PIMS, earlier in the thread you said that you had more sexual partners than your friend who had CC did.

Blueberties · 27/09/2011 23:21

No, I haven't. There are health professionals who disagree with you: this is not insulting, it is a fact.

I really wouldn't lecture anyone on personal insults after your behaviour upthread.

MarginallyNarkyPuffin · 27/09/2011 23:22

That's low BumbleyMummy. But hardly surprising from you.

PIMSoclock · 27/09/2011 23:22

Leonie, your posts have been the worst offenders and I have been really close to reporting you for it. Particularly as you admitted posting them before.
They are the sorts of posts that encourage decisions to be made out of fear and ignorance. Not the best combination in decision making

Please empower people with the best info you have to help them understand their decisions not fear them unnecessarily

bumbleymummy · 27/09/2011 23:24

How is it low marginally? She shared the information herself earlier in the thread. I'm just pointing out that the vaccine is not effective if you have been exposed to hpv. I wouldn't want anyone to be misled.

PIMSoclock · 27/09/2011 23:25

Bb you must have been grinning at someone else's insult then?!

And I have addressed those points with good evidence to prove I was not incorrect or misleading.
Just because you think you are right, isn't enough to make you right

Blueberties · 27/09/2011 23:27

It is not low. Bubmley is one of the best behaved posters on the thread and if she were to post anything low - which she hasn't - I would be so surprised my wig would fall off.

Earlier on pro-vaccinists wished our families dead and implied our children would have STDs while Pims broke her sides laughing at another one deploring the "spewings" out of someone's brain. Low?
