Be honest. How much plain water do you drink per day?

Not including tea, coffee, soft drinks etc.

If your doctor asked you, what would be your honest answer?

Just curious cos I am finding it really hard to drink lots of water every day

About 2 pints. Sometimes 3 cause I BF and get thirst on after night feeds.

During the day I drink tea or squash.

bibbitybobbityhat · 20/09/2011 10:59

About one medium glass full, just before I go to bed. That's it!

aStarInStrangeways · 20/09/2011 11:00

loads, but i am a fizzy water addict and don't really like squash or fizzy pop. i do drink quite a bit of tea as well, and mint tea.

StellaAndFries · 20/09/2011 11:00

None.

GrimmaTheNome · 20/09/2011 11:07

I'm sure I read somewhere that the whole '8 glasses of water' thing is a misunderstanding - yes, that's about how much water that its been determined we need in a day but the crucial sentence omitted from media reporting was something like 'most of which is obtained from food'

Unless you subsist on ryvita, raisins and beef jerky, you eat loads of water every day. Fruit and veg is mostly water; soups, yogurt etc.

Of course it depends where you live and what you're doing - e.g after an active morning in greece I'd neck about a litre of water glug glug straight down at lunchtime. But sedentary work in England just requires a few mugfuls of tea.

jumpingjackhash · 20/09/2011 11:08

I'll have a couple of litres, maybe more each day. I always have a glass on the go and if I'm out and about will often have a small bottle in my bag.

I'll also have a couple of cups of coffee and a couple of green teas a day, maybe a glass of skimmed milk (couple of times a week). Don't drink juice very much at all.

I spend a lot of time weeing!

EldonAve · 20/09/2011 11:16

Probably about 4 pints

minxofmancunia · 20/09/2011 11:22

A couple of glasses a day from the water machine at work, just for refreshment really. The 2 litres/8 glasses thing is nonsense and there is lots of evidence discrediting it. You get most of your fluid from food, and quite a bit from other drinks.

I have mostly tea maybe 5 cups, some water/juice with food and am veggies so eat loads of fruit and veg. Not dehydrated suits me absolutely fine.

I'm always amazed that someone can consume 1 litre. Thats a lot of water.

I drink about 1 tumber, rest squash, tea, coffee.

You obtain plenty of water from fruit, veg, meat, fish etc so this 8 glass is complete rubbish. The figure waved about includes the water from you food. Some food can esily be over 50% water.

I remember an experiment on TV that proved that it made no difference at all, as for toxins another load of rubbish.

heymammy · 20/09/2011 13:11

None. (When I'm not pregnant) I drink tea or squash and get plenty of water from food. It would never cross my mind to force glasses and glasses of water down my neck.

bigTillyMint · 20/09/2011 13:13

About a glass or two. I drink gallons of tea though, and squashBlush

Eglu · 20/09/2011 13:14

Loads as it is the only thing I drink.

booyhoo · 20/09/2011 13:20

none.

i have a cup of tea at breakfast, another at lunch, one around 4pm, a glass of milk with dinner and a cup of tea again around 7.30 when watching the soaps.

HazeltheMcWitch · 20/09/2011 13:20

Loads for me too. I have one coffee AS SOON as I wake up (caps to emphasise just how much I need it!), then just water. I probably drink 3-4 L, all tap, unless I am out and about and having drunk my 'flask' of tap water, am thirsty and want some more.

I think your body comes to expect that much. I get a really dry mouth so drink to avoid/remedy that; plus I only have 1 kidney and drink loads to avoid UITs and kidney infections.

controlpantsandgladrags · 20/09/2011 13:30

Absolutely none. I usually have one glass of fruit juice a day and lots of decaff tea.

LittleMissProcrastinator · 20/09/2011 14:31

I don't like water on it's own,
I drink: Tea, coffee, squash, orange juice or tomato juice (if we have any).

ChuffMuffin · 20/09/2011 17:57

erm, none. Same as always Confused.

ragged · 20/09/2011 18:15

very little, I have always loathed it. Grew up in a place with heavily chlorinated river water as tap water. Will drink plain water when doing sports, though, or on long walks.
Ordinarily drink Fizzy water, several types of tea, juice.

throckenholt · 20/09/2011 18:30

2-3 litres per day (5 ish pints) - I often get through a 1.5 litre bottle at work, plus a pint glass at dinner and breakfast. I rarely drink anything else though - very occasional cup of tea or glass of fruit juice.
