smear test

went for smear test yesterday and nurse could not find my cervix. why is this?

sometimes they point backwards?

or did it go on holiday .. maybe a quick jaunt to the canaries for a bit of sunshine ..

Possibly because she wasn't very good at her job.

I definately didnt leave it on the bus, same nurse has done my last 2 smears and never had any problem

She did get me to put my hands under bum to tilt pelvis, but still no joy

Some cervix's are a bit erm shy/or difficult to find, but she should have been able to find it eventually. My first smear was a nightmare as the nurse took 40 minutes fiddling with the speculum to locate mine!!! Book a different nurse or GP to do it again, and get them to do an internal to check where your cervix is BEFORE they do the smear. When I explained to my GP that my last smear had been a nightmare, she did an internal beforehand, so taking the smear was absolutely fine after that, a five minute job! Apparently my cervix was in a slightly funny position as I have a retroverted (tilting backwards) uterus.

yes I have retroverted uterus too - last smear was just so cringemaking. I had to put my hands under my bum, cough, lie on my side with my leg in the air, you name it I did it. I just hoped to god the door was locked and nobody could walk in.
