Scared I might have a brain tumour

Hi
I have posted about my recent numbness down the left side of my body (as if I had had an injection at the dentist and it had only half worn off) and the fact that I have been smelling a weird smell that is not there for about three months (I only realised it was me and not my house about two weeks ago when we went away).
I am waiting for a CT scan which I need more information about which hopefully my GP will provide.
I am really scared I might have a brain tumour as both the above symtoms come up in the list of relevant ones.
Has anybody had these symptoms and found them to be nothing serious?
Thank you. I was shaking like a leaf when I came across the brain tumour website that listed both the numbness and the phantosmia (smelling smells that are noth there) as possibly symptoms amongst others.

I am quite sure that if it was something to worry about, they'd know by now and would have said. It's just that tiny nagging doubt. Even if it is an acoustic neuroma, they won't do anything so it's not urgent anyway. I'm fairly sure it's my ears that are the problem, not my brain but I just want to know what it is so I can work out how to make it better. Oh well!

Hi Burningbridges, Grockle and PositiveAttitude - no results yet for me - surgery seem to think hospital promising two days was a bit over optimistic / weird. Glad your MRI went okay BurningBridges - did you feel claustrophobic or was there enough room inside? I hope both you and Grockle soon find out what is causing your symptoms - it's horrible to have strange things going on but not to know why - like living in some kind of twilight parallel world.

Hello everyone. My CT scan came back normal which I am relieved about. Still have the weird smells though so am going to go back to the GP about this. How are you Grockle and BurningBridges?

Top news Shocked. Well I saw the gastroenterologist today, and apparently I have costochondritis which is an inflammation of the ribs - this could be pressing on the vagus nerve in the stomach and giving me dizziness, or just generally making me feel crap. I do feel a bit more positive about my symptoms. I'm on another thread about this and one poster there said isn't it hard to believe how you can feel so awful but in fact have something fairly minor (or at least not life threatening). Grockle I hope you continue to get support on the dizziness thread.

Great news - for both of you.

I haven't heard anything still, neither has my GP so I'm chasing it all up with the hospital now. I now am sure my MRI was ok but I still need to sort out the dizziness and constant tinnitus and nausea. Hopefully that will be easy to fix.

I am pleased for you Shocked and Burning and I hope you get some answers soon Grockle. Smile
