Have worsening asthma, was told by last Dr I saw he suspects brittle asthma. Am seeing specialist resp dr at hosp on Fri. How is brittle asthma diagnosed as opposed to any other type? What difference - if any - does it make to treatment?

Mine didn't really go from bad to worse, it went from fine to brittle really quickly.

Other than bog standard brown and blue inhalers, which I'd had for years, I've only ever been treated for brittle asthma so I can't really compare treatments.

They still don't know what causes my exacerbations so I'm seeing a new specialist next month.

DD is brittle. She always has been, she goes from fine to not fine in a very short space of time.

She doesn't use blue as a reliever she uses Fostair which is a very unusual treatment programme according to most doctors we see at A&E and she needs higher doses of oral steroids for longer than usual to get severe bouts under control (at the moment we seem tobe fighting a losing battle though, I am expecting to end up at A&E again today).
