Having a polyp removed and been told I have a narrow cervix - anyone else experience either of these?

I've been experiencing some strange light periods over the last few months and so had a transvaginal scan. They discovered I have a polyp and a narrow cervix which gp said would explain my light periods as they blood is not able to come properly. But when I read about polyps they give you painful heavy periods which I don't have so bit confused. I also read polyps are more common in woman around menopausal age. Is that really true? I also read they are quite common and harmless. I would be interested to hear how many women on here had polyps removed and how old you were? The narrow cervix is also confusing me as when I read about that it said it causes fertility issues with women and also they may have difficulty dilating in labour. I conceived three children no problem and had three natural births so I am not sure why this is happening? I've been told I need to have a operative hysteroscopy under a general anaesthetic which scares me, I have my pre op app later this month so guess i can ask all this then.
Until then I would love to hear from anyone who has experienced this.

I had a polyp removed earlier this year aged 29 I was asleep during the surgery.

I had a cervical polyp removed in 2006 when I was 30. I was given the option of general anaesthetic but went for local, and it was fine. They numbed the area and then filled my uterus with water in order to insert the hysteroscope, a camera on a wire with a loop on the end to find and probe the polyp. By pressing on a different pedal, the surgeon could switch the probe into slicing mode. It was all quite simple and I only felt slight discomfort, like period pains. The worst bit was when they were filling me up with water as it goes quite quickly from ok to (painfully) full, at which point they stop. The polyp was quite big but I didn't feel much. A nurse kept asking me if I wanted to hold her hand (no thanks, just wanted to look at the picture on the wall and imagine being somewhere else, without 5 people staring down at my bits).

Afterwards they gave me a maternity pad, then went and had a couple of paracetamol and spent afternoon on the sofa - this was pre-DD but definitely recommended!
