DD (very nearly two) has a horror of a cold, streaming eyes and nose and a nasty loose cough. I've put her to bed with a moderate dose of Medised to help the streaming, but am wondering...if she wakes in the night coughing...is it safe to give her Tixlylix Day as well? The T. bottle says to check with pharmacist if kid is taking other meds - didn't think of that this afternoon, stupidly, and didn't think to buy the night version either.

Any thoughts welcome!

I gave DD1 (15months) exactly the same last night. She had medised at 7pm and then Tixilix at about 3am when she just couldn't stop coughing. She was still alive (and seemingly quite happy about it) this morning.

not if its got the nasal congestion product in it guifansame ??? Sp??

FlameRobin · 06/12/2005 20:34

I don't think I'd risk it... They've got different active ingredients, but lots of the same other ingredients. I don't know if they'd combine funny...

after a gap of 6 hrs should be ok...

FlameRobin · 06/12/2005 20:35

Agree with a gap of about 6 hours (how often are you allowed to top up the mediced? I'd go with that time frame).

Not much help now, but if you go shops tomorrow... Benylin nighttime children's cough medicine is great stuff

Elibean · 06/12/2005 21:02

Thanks all! Medised says allowed to top up after min. four hours - she's couging in her sleep, but doubt she'll wake up before midnight with that stuff inside her. No guifa....yes, that stuff...just pholcodine. Was worried that pholcodine plus antihistamine might be overdoing the knockout effect - makes sense its ok with a time gap.

Here' wishing you all a good night's kip...

ps FlameRobin, just realized: I'm clearly suffering from last night's lack of kip - we HAVE a bottle of that Benelin stuff in the bathroom cabinet! Ah well, tomorrow....
