In appreciation of all you lovely blood donors

Hi. I just wanted to start a thread to thank those of you who are able to, and who do donate blood regularly.
Last week I was diagnosed with severe anaemia that was so bad I was admitted to hospital and given three units of blood.
Once I got over the eebie-geebies about other people's fluids going into my arm I was overwhelmed that three people had taken an hour or so out of their days, a scratch of pain and sore arm in order that I could get better.
Obviously I'll never know whose blood I had, but if any of you donate, I want yo say a massive thank you from the depth of my red blood cells and bottom of my (no longer palpitating) heart for your generosity. DH, DD, DS and I are all really appreciative of you.
Thank you x

Well, you've sparked me into gear.

I haven't before for various reasons. Am on the Anthony Nolan register though. I'll google my nearest one today.

AB+ here, is that a rubbish one?

Thanks for spurring me on OP and others - I moved back to Blighty in July and hadn't got around to this yet, but I am now on the register and the next local blood bank date is in my diary.

Now need to organize Organ Donor register while I'm on a roll.

Thank you from ds1 who was called into hospital on Tuesday night for blood and platelet transfusions due to low blood counts (chemo). Thanks

Very grateful for the large number of AB+ donors who saved my life after a massive PPH following DD's birth.

Sadly I can no longer donate and DH has spherocytosis so they don't want his - but so wonderful of those who do!

I love giving blood! You get to lay down and do nothing (bliss!) then drink tea and eat (dunk) biscuits and you even lose weight (albeit only briefly). I'd go every week if they'd let me.

I'm on the bone marrow register as well, I've been called for further tests twice, but never been used - which oddly enough left me feeling a bit miffed!
