Will we get food poisoning??

This morning dh cooked a lovely cooked breakfast for the family (including his parents). Half way through, I thought I tasted a strong blue cheese taste, which I put down to the sausages - which were quite herby. However, having eaten several more mouthfuls of breakfast, I realised that the taste was actually from the Clover spread which we had all put on our toast and which had clearly gone off. The smell was quite pungent (we only bought it yesterday!) - but worse of all is that we all ate at least one or two pieces of toast covered in it (my two dd's aged 7 and 2 had liberally spread jam over theirs so I don't think they noticed). However, I'm now feeling horribly sick and wondering if it's down to impending food poisoning or could it be in my head? I just can't believe that something that smelt so badly could not do anything but upset our stomachs and I'm so worried. Any thoughts welcomed!!

Thank you!

Yuck. Never heard of butter (or margarine) going off. Was it actually mouldy? If you have any left, I'd take it back to the store and complain (don't let them fob you off, it is their legal responsibility to sell you goods of reasonable quality).

Only way to find out if you'll get food poisoning is to wait and see, I'm afraid. Depends on the bacteria and how your body handles it - after all, penicillin was originally identified on mouldy food!

No mould at all - just a really strong smell and taste of blue cheese! NASTY - I can still taste it now!!
