HELPPLS..DDs party and ill...

She has her party in 3 hours at a hall,and has the sorest cough[throat]i have heard,which results in her being sick....have given calpol and a throat sweet to suck,....any other advice?asap xxxreally hot to touch but she says is frezzing...dd 3 tomorrowxx

Poor love. I always think that the excitement of a party can bring on illness! I managed to get chicken pox, mumps and bad colds in time for my own parties as a child.

It is going to be difficult to cancel it isn't it.

its a joint party,but she says she still wants to go.......i feelsosad forherthough,i think her whole body aches to x

Not fair is it. Take her for a short period and warn people not to come to close incase she is contagious then

Strep throat can make them sick with a really nasty throat. Very contagious - sorry but don't think the other parents would thank you for it

are you giving nurofen as well it will bring the temp down quicker

there is alot of it going around at the moment. my whole family has had gastric flu - which sounds similar. In a way the being sick is good because she is clearing her chest (iyswim). Poor little mite. It is the season of illnes!!

DS has a phlegmy cough and has puked up on me in his desperation to clear his throat.
I gag myself and have thrown up if dealing with particularly rubber phlegm...sorry if tmi

Do you even get Strep throat over here? I know you get it lots in the US, but do we call it something else as I have never heard anyone over here getting it?
DH got it on a visit to Texas. Odd throat swelling, painful and contagious illness

One site I googled suggested it was a bacterial form of tonsillitis so perhaps it is more generically diagnosed as that here. ds had Strep throat several times in Switzerland and Scarlet Fever which is caused by the same bacteria but is less common in UK.
