I'm scared!!!

Last Thursday I went for a mammogram on the advice of my GP as I had pain under my right breast.

While I was there I was told the results would be sent to me within 2-3 weeks and in a tiny number of cases patients are sometimes recalled if a problem is found.

This morning 5 days later, I get the letter telling me they have found a problem and I have to attend another hospital day after tomorrow, so a week after the mammogram.

I am so bloody scared

Hello Earth. I know it's scary but it could be they just want a better look. This happened to my mum recently and it turned out she had a small haematoma where she had fell in to a sideboard months ago. Good luck

I think the leaflet says they recall about 1 in 12 people and it is usually fine.

Thank you all. Dh is on nights and is asleep upstairs, I'm struggling not to go in sobbing and wake him up. Support much appreciated x

There is a number on the letter if I want to speak to a breast care nurse but I don't have a clue what to ask

I am so sorry you are scared, even with a quick recall it still can be nothing. Depending how old you are mammos can be unclear. Come and join the Tamoxifen Thread, the women on this thread have all been through what you are going through, and have lots and lots of experience, and support to offer.

Hello Earth, you are bound to feel scared, but as others have said, try to take it one step at a time, and not get ahead of yourself. A lot of people are recalled, they double check many things, which often turn out to be nothing to worry about.

If you want to talk to your breast care nurse, just give ring, and tell her you are feeling worried and need someone to talk to, - they are happy to just chat and help you through, doesn't matter if you don't have a list of questions or don't know what to say, they'll help.

And yes do come over to tamoxifen, there's always people around to chat
