Tada! A shiney new thread - get me with my fancy asterisks Grin

OP posts:
cakesandale · 27/08/2011 14:57

Yes, I think the possibility of ancient tat is very distinct indeed. In amongst the broken tools, yellowing newspapers and electrical bits and bobs that don't work dd is sure to find many things that 'remind me of grandad' and that I will therefore not be able to quietly lose.

It is the BC book, indeed. I am a bit daunted but also very excited. We decided to take the pressure off over the summer and start anew in September, which is still the plan. I have been pondering on it, though.

I am sure that when dh gets down his mountain pile of work he'll be in touch. I imagine it is all very exciting Envy

KurriKurri · 27/08/2011 15:31

Yes I bet it's exciting Envy - but I'm glad he's had the chance to go really, he's got his camera, - hope he remembers to get someone to take photos of him as well. I hope his talk is scheduled early too, because he'll be nervous wreck until that's over.

I'm excited about your book (signed copy please Grin), and I think it will be a great thing for families going through BC.

I'm planning a bit of a purge while Bruce is away, - we have so much tat, - much of it from clearing his mum's house.

That fills me with foreboding!

We too have mountains of crap. But all the charity shops around here are a swine to get to, so you have to park miles away, which discourages me from taking large bags to them . Last week I found one you can park outside!!!!! Yippee!!!!! I am not even sure what the cause is, but they are going to be awash with my tat donations.

KurriKurri · 27/08/2011 17:18

I got rid of a whole lot of thinner-me clothes a couple of weeks ago to a charity shop. I decided that on the off chance I lose some weight, - I'll treat myself to a new wardrobe Grin

OP posts:
cakesandale · 27/08/2011 17:20

Quite right! I sent some things I will never, ever get into to our charity shop and felt better straight away. Those bloody things laughed at me every time I opened the wardrobe door Angry

KurriKurri · 27/08/2011 17:40

That's what thin clothes do Cakes, they mock.

We have thunder and hail here atm, ridiculous!

DD and I have a bottle of wine, a packet of haribo, and a DVD - that's our evening sorted Grin

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 27/08/2011 17:46

I have done exactly the same, if I ever lose this weight I will deserve a good shop to celebrate, anyway, fashions change Grin

I am sorting out baby stuff, in my head at this point, and have asked an ebay savee (sp?) friend to help me put it on. I was just going to go to the charity shop with it but dh got £150 this morning for the scrap metal he has dug up out of our fields......amazing!

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/08/2011 19:27

haven't a clue about selling on ebay (well done sparkle dh !) though I can do the buying bit.
Hope dh gets in touch soon KK - bet he's having too much fun - enjoy dvd and wine and sweeties with dd !
The Inbetweeners was great- vvv funny - go and see it cakes ! Grin
We have no boy to get back home for but we had to get back to feed mum's cats Grin so no trip to Wagamama - but dh is making shepherd's pie which is my absolute favourite thing !
Bought ds new boxers and socks for school - I really need to sort out all our clothes for charity shop- ds growing out of everything.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/08/2011 19:29

re: book - once you have some bits Cakes it might help if I illustrated as we go along- it might generate ideas for us both and be less daunting- they needn't be the 'real' bits of the book as we'll need to decide it's structure etc,but I find just starting on something (which is always the hardest part) gets a project flowing.

topsyturner · 27/08/2011 21:34

Evening Ladies

Hope you are all having a good one . I have been mostly sleeping this weekend !
Chemo , anti sickness syringe driver , and my period all coincided and knocked me out this weekend .
So much for chemo pushing me into menopause !

Also got horrendous heartburn , mainlining Zantac and pints of milk .

MAS am dead jealous . I am a huge Inbetweeners fan and am prone to the odd tourette style outbreak of shouting "bus wankers" at people . I am hopeful I will get to see it before it comes out on dvd Grin

Right off for a quick chocolate trifle , then time for another lie down methinks !

cakesandale · 28/08/2011 11:06

Feel better soon, Topsy, Uurgh. Sometimes everything really does just come at once.

Glad the film was good MAS, we will have to go.And I think you are right, we need to just get started on the book, as soon as the kids go back to school and I can get my work back into some kind of shape. Everyone still seems in holiday mode, and unless they talk to me i just can't get going. So it all backs up. Sad

Sounds like you were in for a nice night, KK. Hope it was good.

Update on the Caitlin Moran - it gets pretty funny, it's worth a look.

KurriKurri · 28/08/2011 11:18

Hope you feel better soon topsy, - the heartburn is horrible, - would pro biotic yogurt drinks help? (they are my answer to anything stomach related Grin) but I do find they help.

We had a nice evening, DVD watched, sweets eaten, wine drunk Grin
I had a good nights sleep as well, in fact the two nights DH has been away I have slept all through the night, I wonder why? because he snores

We had a text last night from him "everything OK, phone not working" Grin

I must try to get hold of that Caitlin Moran book Cakes - it sounds good.

I'll send you mine if you like, when I've finished it, which won't be more than a day or two. least I can do as you saved my life with the book about anxious kids. PM your address and I'll send it this week....

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/08/2011 11:25

hope topsy is feeling better today...
am hoping to do some work...dh making some bread. Ds back at about 8pm !

cakesandale · 28/08/2011 11:33

Good luck with that, MAS. I was doing some as well, and there is more to do, but I have just decided I have had enough. I worked last weekend as well and I think I've reached the end of my endurance for now. Off to make soup (it's a racy life here, alright Hmm )

KurriKurri · 28/08/2011 11:50

Oh thanks Cakes, that would be great Smile

Good luck with the work everyone.

My task of the day is giving the dog a bath, - took her out and now she's got God Knows What in her beard!

OP posts:
cakesandale · 28/08/2011 11:55

Those little round burr things are the worst. We are dog sitting the bearded collie again later this week - cue much tugging and brushing Hmm I feel your pain (and possibly the dog's, too)

Don't forget to PM me KK.

KurriKurri · 28/08/2011 12:02

pm sent Cakes Smile

OP posts:
cakesandale · 28/08/2011 12:53

Got it - thanks! Smile

KurriKurri · 28/08/2011 13:12

I have a wet bathroom, and a dog who is sulking Grin - but at least she is clean. She jumped out of the bath twice while still covered in shampoo, and shook herself, then I had to wrestle her back in to rinse her - oh the joys.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 28/08/2011 13:20

eek !

Figgyroll · 28/08/2011 17:18

Poor doggy and poor KK too. Grin My bearded collie had a drastic haircut a few weeks ago and life's much easier now but he still manages to get those little burr things stuck to him. Once, when he had a skin condition and the vet thought he had an allergy (turned out to be foxes mange) we were having to shampoo him every day for a fortnight and let him sit in the bath with the shampoo on him for a whole 10 minutes. It was a nightmare and of course didn't do the trick anyway. The drops, Stronghold, got rid of the foxes mange in the end.

Hope you feel a bit better today Topsy. Chocolate trifle sounds yummy and I'm tempted now.

DH and I have had a lovely day - I've got a new phone (hooray) -an HTC Wildfire S and we're playing with it. Is it MAS who has one of those? It doesn't come with a lengthy instruction book, just a basic leaflet so I will have to learn as I go along. Also bought a lovely top from M&S, very pretty. DH has a bit of a cold starting up so I'm keeping out of his way Grin. DH1 is still muddying it up at Reading.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/08/2011 19:25

oh yes- that's my phone !! you're right, there's not much of an instruction booklet- it's really a question of trial and error, but it's a pretty good phone,I think !

amberlight · 29/08/2011 19:54

Ooo, we've all been v quiet today...are you all alright??

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/08/2011 19:59

been working !

Saw that you'd been to Kew Gardens- how lovely- I haven't been for a few years now- I have lived much of my life in Kew and then across the river in Brentford. It was where we went after school for picnics and to run through the watering things- happy memories. Used to take ds there a lot,or my mum did - lovely place.
