DD2 (2.5) woke up crying an hour ago, saying her privates are hurting. Judging from the non stop scratching and throwing herself around I'd say it's more of an itch than a pain - she's going completely mad with it. I've tried every cream I can think of - including canestan - but seem to be making things worse rather than better. ANyone got any ideas? could it be the bath stuff i've been using the last few days (oilatum)? Can't bear to see her in so much distress and not be able to do anything

Give her a cool plain bath to wash everything else off

rummum · 01/12/2005 21:28

thread worms.....

Thanks everyone, I've just got her back to sleep but i don't think it's going to last as she's still scratching. I think it's got to be thrush or something like it though don't know why she'd have that. Threadworms - that;s an interesting one but wouldn't that make her bottom itch more than her fanny?

could be she has scratched it with a fingernail end and everything else is making it sting?
Perhpas chamomile if you ahev any eta of=r cream might ehlp soothe?
DD has done this before now ... it sent her mad thrashing around too

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2005 22:19

Threadworms can cause fanny itching too. And they mostly cause itching at night. I'd certainly be checking for them.
