No medical reason for it to work but a hot toddy can make youfeel better, even if it doesn't make the cold go away. Hot water, honey, lemon juice and a slug of whisky! It will help you to sleep if nothing else!

I discovered the new version of Otrivine - its a nasal spray, and used twice a day it really helped to reduce the inflammation and discomfort in my sinuses and to dry up the running tap effect of my nose - a particularly virulent cold.
I also find zinc gluconate lozenges useful - Tesco sell their own brand if you can cope with the luminous red colour!

Beachams cold and flu tablets are good, always work for me.

Happy birthday - poor you! If you are desparate an anti histamine can sometimes work - dries up nose and eyes. Or a Brazilian (?) product called guarana - well it did with me - can get it at good health food shops. Made me feel a bit 'high' though.
