Spinal block type thing for pain relief?

Peter is still in a dgree of pain, they were suggesting something that sounds like a spinal block. thy would give him a local in his back, then would 'deaded' his nervous system. it was very risky and could cause more damage. but he is in pain. he is goingto think about it overnight, as the morphine isnt working too well atm.

It's similar to an epidural Misdee, with all the complications they entail. Has this been since the infection? Has in cleared now? Or is a long term problem. The block would again, only work on a short term basis, depending whether they sited a line or not. Even with a line, I think it should only be in for an absolute maximum of 5 days. Might be enough to break the cycle though and reduce the amount of pain medication he is taking. HTH a bit, sorry he is in pain. Must be miserable. I'm assuming he has had a PCA and uses it effectively? Also make sure he takes regular oral medication too as this can help a great deal (ie paracetamol).

Misdee I had one of those after my second transplant. It was brilliant I had an infection in the scar and no painkiller would touch it so if he can tolerate it it will give him great relief I had an epidural for ds birth and it was a lot stronger I don't remember exactly but I could still move around with the kidney one but was completely numb from the waist down with the epidural HTh and hope he is over this soon
