Hmmm. Quite sure I don't have meningitis, but I do have a rash that wont disappear under a glass...

what else causes rashes that don't vanish. It's only stomach and its itchy. About six inches in lenght, and an inch in width, very uniform looking.

It does look not far away from where my skirt waistband would have been. But its elasticated and fairly loose. Haven't changed wash powders.

Is it like a patch of tiny blisters? Are they sort of seeping a bit of fluid?

is it on one side of your waist or all across? one sided could well be shingles.

I've had these type of rashes before. Never found out what they were. Didn't make me ill, and I'm still here!
Ds had a non blanching rash when he was 4, he was treated for suspected meningitis, turned out, it was just a viral infection.

It's across the middle of my stomach, the middle is almost level with my belly button. Not raised, no blisters, totally flat. Looks like somebody has drawn red/purple dots on my skin.

Purple spots that dont disappear when pressed need to be checked, so walk in centre or gp for you Im afraid..

My friends son had a rash recently call pityriasis rosea which was caused by an allergic reaction to a virus, might be worth googling it to see if there's a picture so you can see if it's anything like you have??

Ds gets them quite regularly. It's usually a reaction to a virus. Doesn't cause any problems except for getting sent to A&E for blood tests if we see a dr. who doesn't know him.
He's always been quite well with them, so I've never been worried. he's got them on his ear and side of his face, which is his usual first place to get it.

I would get it checked as I'm not sure if you get the rash before you have any other meningitis symptoms. Better to be safe than sorry.

That said, I had a nasty viral infection once (it was prob. glandular fever or similar) and I came out in a purple, non-blanching rash. I was taken to A&E in a paramedic car as they didn't want to wait for an ambulance. It wasn't meningitis, just something to do with the virus affecting my liver/spleen and my blood clotting went haywire.

I was told that the rash can be a bit of a red herring in meningitis as it comes out later in the symptoms, but it tends to be what people take about. You'd certainly be expecting some symptoms of feeling pretty rotten before it came out.
I was told to tell them to try and kiss their knee. If they've got meningitis the neck won't bend enough to do it.

That rash is not caused by viral menigitis anyway, the rash is caused by the blood poisening or sceptacemia. You can have menigitis and not have the rash, and I believe you can have sceptacemia and not have menigitis.

Could call NHS or local hospital and ask?
