hurt my foot doing nothing!

Over the past few weeks I have noticed a pain in my right foot. It is on the soul of my right foot but at the heel end. It is so painful, struggle to put weight on it. But not constant, sometimes not at all.

What is this?

Could it just be bruised inside, although I cant see any bruising?

Its bloody sore.

Watching with interest as I have the same problem. Right foot, but at the side below my ankle bone. I'm not aware of tripping over something or doing any damage and there's no bruising, but like the OP it's almost too painful to walk on some days, other days it's just a dull ache.

I am in so much pain when I try to walk on it, then the more I walk the slightly easier it gets.

well I now know whats wrong with my foot. Sadly only time and ibuprofen and little exercise will help it. I need to wear my 'proper' trainers with heel and arch support, get myself some heel/arch support for my shoes and it should go away as quick as it arrived.

is the pain worst in the morning then fading, only to comeback later?

coffee what did you discover was wrong with your foot? Is it a fallen arch thing?
I've finally put mine down to the Birkenstocks I've been wearing every single day frequently. The soles are molded on the inside and I think they've somehow re-aligned my foot! It's slowly getting better, but very slowly.

I have a similar problem - it is like a stinging pain in the heel of my left foot.

I too normally wear birkenstock's nearly all the time but last week I was on holiday and knew I would be walking a lot so wore my running trainers nearly exclusively.

My foot got a lot better on holiday.

I spent the day in slippers yesterday, ironing and my foot was agony by the evening.

I am wearing my trainers again now.

Have I killed my feet with my birkenstocks?

yes seenitall that is what it is; Plantar Fasciitis.

Wearing my trainers with good support has helped today and yes it hurts when I get up first thing or if I have been resting. I too wear my Birkenstocks all the time (in summer) think I need to get a new pair... or good ole Scholl sandals!

forgot to say - I went to the Dr and she had a prod and poke and me yelping gave her an instant diagnosis! I have a leaflet with exercises on which I am doing and it also tells me what causes it/what it is.

Thanks coffee - I shall look into it. I suspect we should stay well away from the birkies though as mine were new this summer.

Coffee I have just googled it and that is exactly what I have got.

That explains why I was fine while I was away as when I was fitted for my running shoes I was fitted with ones which correct the movement of my foot.

I also spend most of my day on my feet on a wooden floor supported by solid concrete.

I was going to say Planter Fasciitis, I have had it for over a year now, the mornings were far worse at the start of it all, I literally had to psych myself up for the first few steps in the morning. The tendons in the foot need to be stretched before you can get any real relief. Stretches need to be held for 15 to 20 seconds at a time, and rolling your foot on a cold glass bottle really helps. A good idea is to put a bottle of water in the fridge, and roll on it any time you need to/have the time. I now wear doctor scholl fitness walkers, and asda's own shaper sandals, but I have heard good things about fitflops, just not got a big enough pocket for them. Wearing flat shoes is a no-no, the last time I did this (for a family funeral) I ended up having to get around on crutches again for a few days and the tightness of muscles spread right up to my glutes (ouchies maybe tmi).

I have been stretching and putting ibulieve gel on to help. It is working which is good, I am going out on Saturday night and was hoping to wear wedge heeled shoes, not sure if I can now, but if it is better by then I will wear high heels/wedges and suffer the next day. Going to a spa on the Sunday so hopefully a swim, sauna and pedicure will help.

ok people with planter fasciitis - do not wear birkenstocks, they do not help the pain! I have been wearing my spongy 1 inch wedgey flip flops and the wedge heel really helps. They arent high at all, but they are not flat and cushion the foot. It has really helped and although not entirely pain free it is much much better.
