she's 18 months has a bit of a cold / chesty cough but is otherwise fine but we've just come in and she's gone shivery and I think her lips went blue for a few minutes

is this something to worry about .. she really seems fine in general and is drawing by my side now

oh she had MMR last thursday

she seemed pale as well but has her colour back in her cheeks now

just the lips or skin around the lips?

Twiglett · 22/11/2005 14:47

the outside of the lips so it was pinkish in the middle - but seemed grey in the skin

oh I don't know, I think I might have been imagining it now

could it be that she was cold? when cold the body dirverts blood back to the major organs, that whay peoples hands and feet so numb as well.

LIZS · 22/11/2005 14:52

Is she wheezy at all ? How warm are her hands and feet ?

Twiglett · 22/11/2005 14:52

yes you're probably right

its just they weren't blue outside but were about 5 minutes after we got into the warmth

Pop to the docs now while surgery is still open to give her a quick check over? Can't hurt and might go someways to putting your mind at rest? (Better now than after 5pm when surgery is closed, imo)

Twiglett · 22/11/2005 14:53

she is a little 'hard of breathing' because of cold / cough combo

Twiglett, YG took her DD2 to hospital when her lips turned blue - she has just got home after being kept in overnight - viral tonsilitis and chest infection

nailpolish · 22/11/2005 14:55

you could always call nhs 24

if you were outside the light is different and maybe you didnt notice she was a bit blue (from being cold) and when you came in you saw the pink returning to her extremities

being a bit blue when freezing cold outside is ok as the body keeps the inner organs warm by surrounding them with blood, blood is diverted away from non-essential parts of the body such as lips and toes

hope she is ok twig, dont worry

i had to call an ambulance once when my dd1 had a terrible cold and she was so bunged up her airway was blocked - but at the same time she blacked out and went limp in my arms

is she tiring for breath and sleepy, are her hands and feet cold, does she have a fast pulse

Twiglett · 22/11/2005 18:00

thanks all

checked with doctors and they said to take her to A&E

seems it was a febrile convulsion (or kind of like one without the fitting).. nurofen and calpol

so glad to be out of there - there was a woman in the next bay singing incessentantly to her baby - fair enough - but she was singing Jingle Bells and had bells with her as an acoompaniment and everytime she got to the end of the first verse she'd start again - it was driving me crazy. I nearly signed out AMA to get away
