Infected finger

My dd (17m) sucks her index and middle finger. She is teething at the moment and so has been mashing them more than usual. She has a really sore spot on her middle finger - it's raised up and full of white pus inside (sorry). I can't stop her from sucking it. I've tried putting a plaster on it but she gets it off within seconds. Any tips on how to treat it? Should I pop it?

When DS2 was little he had hand, foot and mouth disease and chewed all the blisters on his thumb until they went all pussy and the nail got infected. We got some antibiotic cream from the GP which cleared it up in a couple of days. I wouldn't pop it, you might make the infection worse or she might spread it to her mouth!

Have you tried distracting her with something else to chew? Carrot sticks or apple or frozen ice poles, that would help her teething too?

Sorry I can't be much more help than that, hope you find something soon!
