Have a wonderful holiday Cakes - if it's in this country (or abroad for that matter) I will keep everything crossed for good weather for you, see you in August Smile

Amber - sit and have a Brew after all that furniture moving Smile

MAS - I have voted Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2011 11:16

ah thank you KK ! Celeste is 42nd at the moment- there are some totally gorgeous kits on there though...

FAB, the needle biopsy left no real scar at all, just the tiniest little blemish, I think that has been the same for others on here. Node biopsies are a bit more invasive I think, and so scar a bit more. For me the mass was behind my nipple, so my nipple has a scar like a smiley face running around the whole of the "southern hemisphere", the tissue around the nipple and the nipple itself are quite damaged, and I have nerve damage there to, but much of the breast shape is normal, certainly the top half.

SparkleRainbow · 21/07/2011 13:45

Pleasenap, having a good friend who is thinking of her, is a really good start to help your friend get through this.

Have a great holiday cakes. I wish you much sunshine, good food and good wine.

Jenny I am glad your sister looks a little better today.

MAS where do you vote, what have I missed?

Oh amber with the sparkly carpets.....fancy another Brew I have the kettle on, clearing three rooms is no small task.

TheOriginalFAB · 21/07/2011 14:11

Thank you to all who has advised me about scars, etc. I would happily lose my breasts to be honest (have issues) but I am sure the doc won't take them off unless they need to be. I have an appointment come through to see the doc 2 weeks after my ultrasound and mammogram.

amberlight · 21/07/2011 14:16

Brew? Lovely!

topsyturner · 21/07/2011 14:22

Hi FAB and pleasenap , welcome to our little world Smile
Whatever happens , you are welcome to stick around for Brew and cake , we are very big on cake here !

cakes - have a great holiday , I am off for a week in August to the wilds of Connemara . A holiday does you so much good doesn't it ?

Shaved my head today . With DD being my very willing helper . I was very patchy and straggly looking , so it was really the very best option .
Just had a shower , and it took me about 15 minutes less than normal !
Shampooing and conditioning my wild head of hair really did take up a lot of time . And no more faffing about with the straighteners Grin

smee - had a parcel today from you , you are an angel . And I thankyou very very much xxx

Right , off to make lunch for the DC and I . And possibly to use the whole families email addresses to vote for Celeste !

Columbia999 · 21/07/2011 14:39

Hello and welcome to Fab and Pleasenap, it's nice here! Smile
Hope everyone is as well as possible today x

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2011 14:48

ooh topsy thank you (there is a Royal Canin posh cat food competition and have entered my Celeste -she's gradually climbing up the rankings ! 20th when I last looked...I'll post a link in a sec)
Have been drawing a bit, need to do some more,so back in a bit...

THanks all!

MAS - I'll vote!

Topsy - good on you for taking the radical approach. FWIW I was advised to keep shampooing and conditioning my heAD. Can't remember why, if I ever knew. But you will def save on stratightening time, and also haircuts (just spent £35 on mine)

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2011 15:14

I think for good future hair and scalp health shampooing and conditioning are good ideas- after all you clean your face every day ! (I heard that somewhere)
thanks for voting Cakes !

Have been ironing for ages - very dull. So will have a Brew

topsy, well done on the shaving, - its the best option I think. I used baby shampoo on my head and a baby's hairbrush when it started growing back.

I am having big problems with temperature control at the moment - I'm either literally dripping with sweat (running down my back and soaking my knickers -nice!) or I'm cold, - don't seem to have any middle ground. Don't know if its menopausal hot flushes (I think it is mainly) or thyroid stuff. Whatever it is I am Sweaty-Woman (thats my superhero name Grin) - special powers dispersing crowd with her whiff!

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2011 16:12

KK I'm sure you don't smell Smile Thermostat control is a pain though.
Have been drawing French dogs and children today- must do some more.

good morning all !
Am off to school later to the Oscars- ceremony for the film making week -ds hugely embarrassed that I'm going- told him I wouldn't if he really didn't want me there, but hew grudgingly agreed...blimey,kids.

smee · 22/07/2011 13:33

Too many posts to keep up with!! Just wanted to wish Cakes a good holiday though. I'd bet she's already gone, but have fun. Smile

Topsy, how's the head today? Are you feeling okay-ish about it? How are the kids and DH too?

Kurri, I'm sweat queen too. Shock Could rival you am sure. I think mine's menopause, but the GP has decided I should get bloods checked for thyroid just in case. Next time, I'm coming back as a man.

Got to go, end of term and they break up at 2pm. Really nice, but really annoying too.

Hope everyone's feeling okay today, or as okay as possible and MAS, I hope the Oscars are extraordinary. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/07/2011 14:54

every single film, even the ones by girls was about zombies, vampires and/or death - ds' group won medals for best use of sound -afterwards there were nice crisps and snacks -then wandered out into one of the little quadrangle bits and there were farm animals -pigs running about -sheep and goats etc for those doing the animal care activity.
Hope head is less sore today topsy.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 22/07/2011 16:17

[girn] at Zombie/death films - kids are so gruesome! It sounds a lovely project for the children to have done though.

Smee - I'm also coming back as a man - who'd choose to deal with menopausal ghastliness when you could be scratching your balls and striding up and down talking about yourself Grin

Hope everyone is feeling OK today, does anyone have a chemo coming up next week? -if so good luck. Topsy I hope your head is less sore today, hope the carpets look sparkling amber Smile

I went into town today to get a birthday present for my niece. I met a friend for coffee and she told me that last week when waiting for a bus, she was stung by a wasp. So when the bus pulled in a few minutes later she asked the driver if he had any antihistamine cream in his first aid box.

At which point he told her she couldn't get on the bus in case she had an allergic reaction, because he wasn't going to stop the bus on the A47 because she was having problems Shock What a jobsworth, -she had to wait to get the next bus an hour later, I am urging her to complain, but she gets a bit anxious about making a fuss.

KurriKurri · 22/07/2011 16:18

I meant to Grin not girn!

amberlight · 22/07/2011 16:21

Isn't girning one of those competitions where people pull faces at each other for a prize?

Carpets are indeed sparkling, thanks. Well, clean, at least Grin

Awful ruddy day here - some detail I won't put on line but I'm so worn out. And a well known large support charity for bc have just written to me to say they're taking an extra at least 3 weeks to consider whether I get any help at all for my disability through them. I think it's been three months so far Sad

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/07/2011 16:37

bah amber Angry Sad
And grrr about jobsworth bus driver - a very sad pass.

On a lighter note-ds has his final singing lesson of the term when he's meant to be at the Celebration of Success -so hope he can do both somehow.

OP posts:
amberlight · 22/07/2011 17:06

Ooo no, it's been nearly five months Shock Sad

KurriKurri · 22/07/2011 17:38

Sorry you're having a bad day amber Sad - I hope they get a move on and let you know what's going on.

Just been having a panicky last hour as I have family in Oslo, - but have heard they are all safe thank goodness.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/07/2011 17:55

oh phew KK - my SIL (not lalaa) has a brother and his family in Oslo but they're all safe

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 22/07/2011 18:08

phew MAS, - I'm glad they're all safe. - What a dreadful thing to have happened Sad

MarianH · 22/07/2011 18:10

I'm intruding to wave and wish you all the best with your treatments. My DD is currently finishing her intensive block of chemotherapy. She was diagnosed with ALL in January. It has been pretty tough going, and our lives have changed completely. I'm interested in your thread as you have some good tips that might help her. She's 12.

Again, best wishes Smile.
