Pink shrimps and Chocolate Mice - now there's a woman who knows her sweets. Can't do the butties as I'm veggie, but I'll settle for a roll of swizzels MAS Smile

Hope SR's enjoying her visitors and the back pain isn't proving too much.

Kurri, do you think blood results are about your thyroid? Is that your best guess? Must be unsettling.

amberlight · 20/07/2011 13:40

Something of an answered prayer here as my very nice main nurse is back and she was horrified that someone else at the hospital had told me they didn't want to know about the chemo side effects and I should go talk to my GP instead. And they may reduce my last dose so it's not so bad....

Bacon buttie, did you say? Yes please!! and go for the clippers. My scalp was still very sensitive for a while, but at least it felt like I'd taken a bit of control.

KurriKurri · 20/07/2011 13:53

Photos are up on profile - let me know if I've uploaded properly and you can see them.

Smee - thyroid is my best guess, thats what the test was for, so sensible brain says thyroid acting up again, Panic brain thinks I've got bubonic plague Grin

Shrimps - my favourite - I saw a huge box of them for sale once in one of those olde sweete shoppe places, - I was sorely tempted.

amber - so glad your nurse got back to you, what they told you yesterday just didn't sound right.

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/07/2011 14:37

I reckon it's thyroid KK - they test specifically for it surely ? try not to fret.
I could only find milk bottles and cheese scones-will they do- plus there are some fancies left...coffee,tea ?

awwwww-dd looks wonderful in her gown- love the one of dd and ds with him looking all I don't really want my picture taken - and you look lovely-the blues are fab together-the shrug especially nice...

KurriKurri · 20/07/2011 14:48

Thank you MAS - yes DS doesn't do smiling in photos - you have to catch him unawares of you want a smile Grin

I'm very impressed you have fancies left, - they would all be gone in this house!

You are right about the thyroid test, it is specific, and I have been feeling very tired the last couple of weeks - maybe I've gone under again.

smee · 20/07/2011 15:07

Aww from me too, Kurri. How proud your DD looks and your DS is so tall!! Blues do really work and that shrug's inspired. Would never know you were having problems with your skin either, you look radiant. Smile

Does sound like Thyroid then. How annoying.

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/07/2011 16:00

crikey,yes- didn't even think your face looked sore at all-had quite forgotten ! Anyway- have heard back from designer and client- just a few further developments required, not too much to do and nothing dreadful, which is a relief- so must crack on later. Phew !

Thank you Smee, and for comments on my skin - I used copious amounts of make up, and fortunately it didn't show in photos, - DH got me some of the Eucerin cream Cakes suggested yesterday, - and it seems to be working, my face is much less sore and the redness is calming down a bit.

Phew MAS - and well done - I knew they'd be happy with your work, they'd be mad if they weren't Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/07/2011 16:13

aw thanks - it's trying to fit images to the client's ideas but keeping it in my style-we seem to be in agreement though.
Glad your Eucerin is working !

KurriKurri · 20/07/2011 16:40

Oh well done DS, I wonder what its for Smile

I've just made blueberry and orange rock cakes they're baking now and smell good. Will hand round later.

SparkleRainbow · 20/07/2011 16:45

Ooo blueberry and orange rock cakes, shall I put the kettle on?

KurriKurri · 20/07/2011 16:48

Yes please Sparkle. The first batch have gone a bit flat and pancaky not sure why Confused but I daresay they'll taste OK - I mean they're cakes, so they're bound to be good Grin

SparkleRainbow · 20/07/2011 16:50
Grin
smee · 20/07/2011 16:51

Cream sounds good, Kurri. Bet it's a relief not to be so sore. MAS deserves a cake to celebrate good feedback. Smile I'm baking cakes too - final cake sale of the year tomorrow. DS is 'helping' Hmm

MAS, how exciting. I wonder what DS has won...?

SparkleRainbow · 20/07/2011 17:09

Grin at best dressed boy.

Ds's new school just asked me what the comment in his old school's report about him being adamant about his beliefs in RE was about. I told them about his reaction to the palm crosses and refusing to participate as he felt it would be wrong to be hypocritical given he chose not to believe in god given what was happening to him. His new school is a state Church of england school. I am now owrrying that I shouldn't have told them about this, and should have just fudged the issue, don't want them to judge him harshly, he was only expressing how he feels.....have I done the wrong thing? What do you think?

SparkleRainbow · 20/07/2011 17:11

Damn why was I honest. I have tried to ring the school, but no-one is answering.

smee · 20/07/2011 17:14

Sparkle, how did they react when you said it? If it's the good school you think it is then it should be really embrace and understand his views. They should be pleased and interested he's thought about it, rather than just accepted an imposed order and let him explore that within their teaching.

smee · 20/07/2011 17:16

x-posted, but honestly I'm sure it's fine Sparkle. Maybe go and talk to them about it and reassure yourself. I'm not religious at all, but how sad he feels like that. He's been through so much, and the school already know that. Am sure if they've an ounce of compassion they'll get it. Smile

SparkleRainbow · 20/07/2011 17:17

The head said something about it not being an appropriate thing to write on his report, and it should have been dealt with differently, someone should have talked to him about it, and is an indication of the way he is dealing with his condition. Which I think was still positive towards ds...... but I am still feeling very uncomfortable about it, the converstaion is not sitting well with me.

SparkleRainbow · 20/07/2011 17:21

I am not religious at all either, which means that although I go out of my way to explain about all sorts of religions and religious beliefs to all the dc, I am not reinforcing christinaity at home. All the state schools around here are C of E. I am really impressed with the school, and he has been through such a lot....

KurriKurri · 20/07/2011 17:28

I think the HT's reply sounds OK Sparkle - it sounds as if she thinks the old school were being pretty petty to write that on his report.

You don't have to be C of E to go to a C of E state school.

SparkleRainbow · 20/07/2011 17:29

I know that is true...I just don't want to rock the boat given all the effort they have gone to to take him.

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/07/2011 18:04

am sure you've nothing to worry about sparkle (but quite understand why you are) I applaud ds for his reasoning though- it shows he has spirit and individuality and seems a perfectly reasonable thing for him to think.
I know you'll be fretful though as you've had to go through so much.
I am a complete numpty-have got bookgroup date muddled up-it's this evening, not tomorrow-am not going now (shame as it was a good read -Room by Emma Donohue) I could go,but it'd be an awful rush and I'd planned to do some work....and Waitrose delivery is coming...I feel bad as I was going to drive too..but friend has car so won't be stuck.
