TTC after ovary removal

Ive just had a laporotomy to remove a large dermoid cyst, ovary and tube on my left side and a smaller dermoid and small section of my right ovary. My larger cyst was discovered during a scan as part of fertility investigation.

Has anyone else had a similar operation whilst trying to concieve and how long did you have to wait before TTC again?

I had one ovary plus tube removed at the age of 28. Didnt ttc until I was 32 but still got pg straight away. Had 2 more dcs at 35 and 38. Conceived first try. I think the remaining ovary tries extra hard!

That's really comforting to hear. Initially when I found out that they had to remove so much I was devestated but the more I read and the more people I speak to I know that my chances of conception should have been improved not made worse.

I have been TTC through donor insemination and I was so upset when I had to stop trying because they found the cyst. I just want to know when I can start to try again. Im going back to the consultant for my 7 week check up on Thursday and hopefully ill get some answers.
