My dd who's 2 and a half is complaining of a sore tooth, so much so that she is unable to eat. She can't really pinpoint which tooth is hurting (i.e. she changes the location each time I ask her!) but is obviously in some discomfort. I have tried to have a look and it looks as if her back teeth might be coming through. Could I be right? I thought all her teeth should be through by now. She is a terrible dribbler and I wonder if this is connected. My dh gave her one of those horrible lollipops which she crunched so hard I wondered if it damaged her teeth! Anyone got any advice?

Try counting her teeth - there are 20 baby teeth if she has them all. If she has less than this you might be right. If not, might be worth monitoring it and taking her to the dentist.

You could be right that the last molars ar estill coming through. IME they find it really hard to judge where the pain is originating from. Does she have a cold as sinus pain can also be felt in the teeth.

We've just had a week or so of dd being miserable with her teeth (2.1yrs) but the back ones are still not there as far as I can tell. She has chipped one of her earlier molars already though but our dentist is not concerned. ds was still erupting his last baby molar at 3.
