sTOPPED SMOKING - WANNA COME TALK TO ME BEFORE I kill THE DOG?

hiyA,

i think i am boring everyone i know on facebook - so i decided to join here instead. and bore you all silly.

i had to leave work early today as i couldnt concentrate. i had a nose bleedd this am, i can't sleep and i get headaches, my sinuses are filling up and im beginning with the coughing.

i've done this before - quit, i know i need to get past the three week mark and then hopefully it will al be ok. i started a new job two months ago and i haven't got smoking friends or triggers embedded so much - coming home in the car is difficult.

i wokred through dinner today - then left at 3pm as i couldn't stick it any longer. dinner will also be hard. - li'm planning to go to supermarket and buy myself things :D

but i really don't do well with being ill. you know that man flu everyone jokes about? well i'm a woman and i get that multiplied by 10

biggup to MR c who also gave up smoking - it is Mr c's second day.

i was really hanging on the 48 hour nicotine free thing - like it was a huge marker and if i could get past that then i could get past anything. i suppose my next countdown should be a full week.

so 4 days to go - midnight friday = one full week.

i am currently sweating so much that i am wiping away sweat tears

im going to walk the dog becuase i feel a bitshitty

please answer me

ty muchly custardo

On day 5 here. Don't find it too hard so god knows why I have smokedon and off for 18 years. Always said I would not smoke after 35 and that is not far off so after a freak out last week when I was getting breathless episodes thought I had better get on with it! No patches or anything here either :)

Tortington · 20/06/2011 22:59

boirn sicky your not helping - now dont smoke again - im looking forward to three week mark and then i reckon that will be it - i cant wait until i go a day without thinking of a fag

Oh God! All of you going cold turkey are now making me feel so inadequate! i think I had better leave this thread! Sad

NeverAttributeToMalice · 20/06/2011 23:07

YY to the no sleep. Why? I never smoked in my fucking sleep!

BornSicky · 20/06/2011 23:08

i don't think i've had a day where I haven't thought of a fag, but i've been tricking my brain and convincing it i don't need or want a fag.

and this might help... the 4 i've smoked have tasted horrible and i've had to go and have a shower after each because the smell on me made me heave.

don't start again, you won't like it.

KilledBill · 20/06/2011 23:12

Oh im even more impressed you are cold turkey!!

I cant do that, I would hurt someone. Seriously.

I also get hideous nightmares when I quit and disturbed sleep.

Tortington · 20/06/2011 23:17

at dinner i went shopping at asda which made the hour go really fast becuase it was a superstore and we don't have an asda near home.

today was so much easier than yesterday. yesterday i really felt pretty bad.

i had another nose bleed, my sinuses are giving me a bit of jip and i have one of those sinus headaches that go along with it. tongue is a bit irritated and throat is ever so very very slighly sore - not too much.

i haven't got much patience and dh is on day 3. he is being a dick. maybe he always ws a dick who knows - seriously i think we;lve done ok in the main - we just had a row over nothing when i ws typing this post - he is being a dick though.

Do you think the cheese and onion coated peanuts may have anything to do with you windy pops?

Had the nightmares last night. WTF? In one of my dreams, I attacked my new boss for calling me fat! Then woke up in a lather at silly o'clock. Am drained today. Wouldn't have the energy to get a cig out of the packet if I had one, so that's good.

1 week down...

bibbitybobbityhat · 22/06/2011 18:43

Wait for the nights when you dream you have been smoking. And then wake up and find you haven't been. Oh tis such a lovely feeling of relief.

Cigarette cravings can come and smack you round the face at any time (I've had a few recently and its getting on for 3 years since I gave up). Its how you deal with the cravings that really sorts the wheat from the chaff. And I mean that in a nice way Grin.

But, weird unexpected cravings aside, giving up is THE BEST THING. It is so fucking fantastic to be free of that addiction. It really is. Can't be topped.

Carry on, keep going, you are normal, you can be healthy, you will get there, its not that hard, you will never regret it, you will have a certain lightness about you as a non smoker (even if you put on a few lb), its all good, there's absolutely nothing bad about it, and on and on and on ...

Tortington · 24/06/2011 00:28

oh no NATM, hopw you get some zeds tonight. as it happens i didn't sleep much last night either.

day 7 for me now its past midnight. each day is a thousand times easier than the last. but still a 100% difficult¬!

today it was really difficult coming home from work in the car. i ran out of boiled sweets and then kinda lost the plot and decided i needed to smell something nice and started emptying the friggin air freshener as im driving along the motorway - nutter

my next huge milestone is to reach and then pass week 3 - one i hit day one of week 4 i'll know ive made it

DoubleNegativePanda · 24/06/2011 03:50

I quit three weeks ago today. It's only been in the last week and a half that I stopped being a complete and total bitch (was a hideous bitch to everyone in my head). I am still drinking a ridiculous amount of coffee though.

I went cold turkey. Wednesday three weeks past DD(9) called me into her room and sat me on her bed. She said "I am so angry at you. I thought you wanted to quit smoking but you aren't doing it. It makes me so sad, because I'm afraid you're going to die.". Let me tell you, nothing has ever hurt me as much as that. I threw out the rest of my cigarettes. I've got the empty pack in my handbag, and everytime I open my bag I remember what she said.

Really doubt I will ever smoke again but it's hard. I was out at a friend's house on Monday and she smoked on the porch and oh he'll, did I want one!

Tortington · 24/06/2011 20:31

dh and i are trying to be nice to each other - but we are snapping at each other at least twice an hour - so it is heartening to think that it will pass in a week or so

today - DAY SEVEN - my little friends, i had periods of forgetting about smoking! yes siree :)
