Cholesterol test- how long to fast?

Have been booked in for a cholesterol test this week on the advice of GP due to family history. Wasn't told anything by receptionist but have heard you need to fast? how long for, please?

I think it's usually nothing after midnight except water

Yes, that's right - I had a test done a while ago (make sure you have a good sized dinner - I was famished by the time my appointment arrived at 11 am!) [smile}

Most things are 12 hours

Ah that's alright then, appointment at 9.10 and I had a pot roast for dinner, so no probs there!
