Twin Block Brace - help!

Does anyone out there have experience of twin block braces? My DS is having them fitted next week to correct the alignment of his jaws - apparently it has grown more on one side than on the other - and I made the mistake of looking them up on the internet - word is they're agony. Now wish I hadn't looked, but maybe best to be prepared. Any advice?

Just an update on this - prior to having the brace fitted I had done some searching around on the internet and found very little information, but what I did find was a video diary that had been posted on YouTube by a girl in the States - and she was having a terrible time with them. Having seen this I was pretty worried. My son now has had his brace for 2 weeks now . The first 2 days he was very uncomfortable and I dosed him up with paracetamol but it settled very quickly after this and he now doesn't have a problem with it at all. I wanted to update my earlier post because anyone else who looked this up would probably be as concerned as I was but in fact our experience has been much more positive. He still speaks with a lisp but apart from that he's managing much better than we expected.

That was nice to update with the good news.
Glad he's doing well.
