second teeth coming through behind first - normal?

Dd has her first wobbly tooth and is v excited. The new tooth is coming through behind, rather than underneath the baby one. Is this normal - it looks a bit odd. I have a dentists appointment but not for about 3 weeks so was wondering if anyone could put my mind at rest.

If it's wobbly that means the new tooth is 'eating away' at the root of the old one. So quite OK. It'll come out soon, give her an apple!

Yes, my sons were like that

My ds 7 just lost his first 3 teeth.
He held onto them so long that the new ones grew out behind the wobbly ones, so once they finally fell out, he had no gaps at all.
It worried me a little at first, but they moved forward into correct place straight away once other came out.

ds' bottom 2 did this, first one came out just over a year ago, second at Christmas , no sign of anything wobbly since. Apparently having them appear behind first ones is very normal and they move forward once the baby tooth comes out, which in ds' case took about 2 months from us noticing the new one behind.

My dd has a tooth coming up behind a wobbly one on the bottom in front. She had a dentist appointment this morning and he said we really need to try to get it out in the next couple of weeks or it will affect the position of her top teeth as they are mostly through. He said we would have to take her to get the wobbly one out if it is not out soon. I don't know if this is just because she has two growing through at same time. You could try giving your dd apples and firm things to bite into to move things along a bit quicker.

Thanks mymama. This is her first wobbly one but still, we'll try to budge it asap. I'll brief everyone at tomorrow's party to keep bumping into her.
