DD..... not getting the pox

Since dd was small i have waved her infront of all i know so that she would get chicken pox..... well she is 4 and half and still not had it. My worry (vain as it may sound) is

1. scaring
2. isn't worse as they get older???
3. do i need to worry

Well I'm 34 and I've still never had despite both my brother and sister having it twice, my mum catching it and getting shingles and it going round the school a million times.

DSs and DD have been the same so far (7, 5 and 2). I've also deliberately mixed them with infectious kids, as I'd love them to get it now rather than later. My BF had it as an adult and was very poorly - she wasn't well enough to get out of bed for almost a week

With the scarring, I don't know anyone with any noticable scars so I wouldn't worry too much. My other BF's DD has just had it very badly - she had spots in her ears, mouth, in her 'bits' (not nice ) but they aren't leaving any marks as they are going (at least not so far)
My only hope is that we've all got some weird natural immunity

Thank you for your replies... i guess i have to just wait and see, i just don't want her to suffer too much, a freind of ours ds had it and he is 2 and walked it.

dd, now 4, had it earlier this year and has 4 distinct scars - 3 on her face and one on her shoulder. She didn't pick them or scratch and wasn't particularly unwell after the first day or so.

Friends' dd is also 4 and ahs been exposed at least 4 times directly to it and never caught it. Her brother had it when she was around 3 months old so she may have had it so mildly the dr couldn't be certain and still have immunity. You could ask fro your dd to be tested for antibodies.

I don't think they necessarily get it much worse until teens/adult years. my brother had it in his early 30's and was quite unwell for a week or two.

My DD was like this, had baths with children who had it absolutely everyting and didn't catch it. It appeared from nowhere in the spring of her reception year. She didn't have it badly but unfortunetly picked the one on her nose which has scarred, but is fading with time.

After seeing how my DD suffered with chicken pox I don't think you should "try" to catch it Slink.
It can be much worse than people realise - my DD was just 2 and she was absolutely covered from head to toe in spots, could hardly see any clear skin, and they were in her nose, her mouth, up her bottom, in her ears, with a ridiculously high temperature requiring hospital visits. Much nastier than I remember it as a kid.

SANDYBALLS your poor dd. I am just going to see what happends i am not going to wave her infront of people, i just thought now would be better than later, but then aggain she could get in the middle of her 11+ or A levels bless she is only 4 i would hate to see her suffer.

Glad your dd is ok now though.
