2week rule..reason to panic?

If you get referred to a specialist under the 2 week rule does it mean the GP thinks you have cancer.....or does it mean that you are showing symptoms that have a possibility of being cancer?

I've been referered twice under the two week rule, it's precautionary. GPs are jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none in the medical world, (according to a friend who is a GP), they know a little about lots of things but not much about the stuff that really counts so they refer you to someone who does know.

Something like 92% of all breast lumps for example are NOT cancer but they still refer you to rule it out.

Thankyou! That makes me feel a lot better :)
