do they 'get better' on their own, or will I need a stitch?

Tummy button? I had this from about ... 20 weeks pregnancy? Right through to a while after giving birth. Didn't need a stitch - apparently it's more due to the stomach muscle wall being "stretched" at that point, and when it (eventually!!) goes back it shouldn't be any problem.

Worth checking with the doc or midwife anyway, from memory my midwife gave me a list of symptoms to look out for in the very unlikely event that it got trapped rather than receded in by itself.

I remember panicking lots when I had mine - but it really was uneventful in the end
