Hi, my ds has just picked a stone up from the fire, he has only started crawling for the first time today so feel really guilty.

Please can anyone suggest what i should put on his hand???

Good news that he will be okay. Kids are quite resilient to most things we adults whine about. Bit of a drag going everyday for two weeks but you will be a bit of a burns expert by the end of it. I picked up quite a lot going each day for a week.

I have deffinately learnt that if anything happened like this again (god forbid) that i wouldn't hesitate in getting it checked out.!

Just tell them he was being a normal inquisative baby and you were being a normal busy mum . Is he your first child?? When it is your first you are sometimes not ready for the rate at which they do things. Please don't feel guilty - there are many other mishaps to come in childhood.

It's just routine Janbo. My HV told me they get informed automatically if any child under 5 goes to A&E. I hope she was sympathetic.

Try not to feel guilty. My dd decided to start rolling and was on the bed at the time and fell off. I shook for ages, then burst into tears when we got to under 1's. The HV was lovely and told me not to worry about it hers had done the same onto a marble floor!

Hi Janbo - my ds burnt his hand like this a few weeks ago. He also had to attend Burns Unit every other day. But his burn healed beautifully within 10 days and has left no marks - so hopefully you'll experience a similar situation

thanks for that info handlemecarefully, that as made me feel a lot more optimistic, I am going back to the burns unit tomorrow so hopefully should be fully on the mend, does your ds still have a scar??

Not even a trace of a scar Janbo - nothing visibly different between the two palms, and it was a fairly bad burn.
