Strange Symptoms in Mouth

My husband and I both have really strange symptoms - red mouths/throats, with small red spots around the throat at the back, a sensation that the mouth is coated with something, and sore red gums. Additionally, I have lumps at the very back of my tongue, including quite a big one. The GP told me my glands are up and I have a virus, but this morning, my gums were really red and bled a bit when I brushed them, which is a new development. It just doesn't feel normal - no temperature, no cold symptoms, maybe a headache, but even the throat doesn't really hurt - it looks as if it should be very sore given how red it is. Anyone have any experience of anything like this?

No idea. Oral thrush? Anything on your hands? I ask because of this link www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Hand-foot-and-mouth-disease/Pages/Introduction.aspx
but in all honesty go back and see your gp - internet diagnosis aint great. Feel better soon.

Thanks - I did wonder about hand foot and mouth, but no rash on hands or feet. Back to the GP on Tuesday if there hasn't been any improvement!
