I know it doesn't work for everyone, and can be horrific for some, but I have a Mirena coil which has stopped my periods completely, and with them gone, so are all of the hormonal ups and downs. Worth a try?

threecurrantbuns · 16/05/2011 20:46

really dont fancy the coil, i also can have libido issues i know mirena can sometime cause a decline. but thank you for taking time to respond

My mirena coil has sorted me but my go said if it didn't tackle then there are other drugs to try.
I knoW my Sis has had some such drug but not sure what they are called
Hugs!

Glad you got it sorted.

Ive been having headaches, dizzyness, feeling sick (similar to morning sickness) extreme fatigue buts still restless nights, cramps, backache, irritability feeling really low, the list seems to go on! Then i have a couple of completely 'normal' weeks.

I feel like im going mad at time how can i go from so forfilled/happy to feeling depressed and fed up Sad

My mum swore by acupuncture for it. Seems to run in my family!
I haven't found libido reduced particularly by my coil.
From what I can gather, those who the Pill affects in a bad way also get bad reaction to mirena. You are either a love it or hate it. But what have you really got to lose by trying.
Either way, book appt with female gp and take along like a diary of notes to show you have really been tracking symptoms with your cycle. Bet they try to push mirena but ask for alternatives.
Good luck

Yep I suffer from PMT from hell too. I've been taking Agnus Castus, Vit B, Magnesium and primsose/starflower oil in a mad last bid to help!! Last month was the third month that I had been religiously taking these supplements and I felt a real difference - I was amazed, i wasn't pmt free but felt much better. However, this month it's back with a vengeance, despite me still taking the supplements Sad. I really don't understand why. I will carry on taking them and hopefully next month will be better. Before this, I tried the Pill and it made me feel horrendous. GP didn't really have many suggestions to help, beyond the Pill and anti-depressants (prozac). Like you say, the 2 or so good weeks a month I feel absolutely fine, so anti-depressants seems like a sledgehammer to break a nut approach to me....

peggotty · 16/05/2011 21:39

Sorry, should have said last month was the second month I'd been taking the supplements...

I can't take evening primrose oil as it messes up my epilepsy tablets but have found that B12 and magnesium help (when I remember to take them)
