Beta blockers for nervous flyer?

We're off on holiday in 2 weeks and DH was supposed to have some hypnotherapy for his fear of flying but has failed to organise anything.

A mum at school suggested asking the doctor for some beta blockers but it sounds a bit extreme to me.

Any professional advice or personal experience you can please share?

I've just booked in for some hypnotherapy (not for fear of flying for something else). I only called last week and I've had a consultation and my first session is tonight, so it might not be too late for your DH to get in with someone.

I am also scared of flying, and every year when our holiday is booked I go to the doctors and he gives me Valium for the flight, beta-blockers would be good too. I suppose it is extreme, but I figure it's only once a year, not even that if some years we have a more local holiday.

Sometimes just knowing I have the tablets there in my bag if I need them is enough to keep the anxiety away.
