And how does one get rid of them?

I get these regularly, bad sinuses in my case. They are manky little deposits that get caught in your tonsils and can make your breath smell bad and they stink. I can always "taste" if I've got them as I can sortof smell them in my nose. To get them out, if you can see them, just open your mouth wide and press your finger just below where you can see them on your tonsils and they pop out (or they do for me). I get lots more in hayfever season, or when I've got a cold. Apparently they're very common but they are totally and completely nasty.

They are just made of dead skin cells and the usual germs that live in the mouth and throat that have got stuck in the deep bits of tonsils. They are more common in people with a history of tonsillitis as their tonsillar crypts are deeper. I get them occasionally and usually get rid by gargling with Peroxyl mouthwash.

I quite like them, it's addictive picking them out and I can't help but give them a good sniff afterwards. I always thought they were bits of rotted food.
