Sore throat for three weeks

I hoped this had sorted itself out but my throat is really sore again, and it's been nearly three weeks now since it started.

It did get better for a few days but never went entirely and this morning it's horrid.

I can't see anything in the mirror - looks a bit red, that's all - and have never had tonsil problems before.

No fever or cold, either. It just hurts to swallow.

I'm worried now in case it's something sinister - has anyone had these symptoms for such a long time?

Thanks.

I had this recently - longest sore throat ever! I think in my case it was a bug that lasted about 2 weeks, started to clear up and then I got throat ulcers (from being run down by the bug, I imagine). Ulcers last a week, and are very painful.

I doubt sinister if it got better than got worse again, would think sinister would not get better at any point Smile

Do go to doc if not in a few days' time - meantime, try nurofen and gargling with aspirin if not too far down your throat!

'if not better' that is.

Thankyou, Elibean, you are a sweetie. I hope it is just a bug, when I rang the Dr a week ago they said 'oh you and everyone else!' so maybe it's just going round. I'm always a bit overanxious with things what do not go away by themselves. Grin

thanks ever so much...Dr in a few days then if no better! I did wonder about it being hayfever or something though I don't normally get that.
