I have a nasty odour 'down there'

any ideas what it can be please? I don't have any discharge, I'm not itchy or sore. I'm not wearing tight fitting jeans or anything any more than usual. I've noticed it for about the last 5 days.
It's not extremely strong and I only notice it when I go the toilet and wipe but it's really not very nice, whatever it is.

Any ideas?

TIA

It sounds like an infection tbh.

You'll need to see your GP who can arrange for swabs to be taken.

Tamdin · 14/05/2011 21:56

Eaten anything out of the norm? Asparagus can make your wee smell. Just an idea.

Unfortunately it's probably more likely to be an infection. If it continues I'd def pay a visit to your gp. Don't worry they've seen/heard it all before.

VivaLeBeaver · 14/05/2011 22:01

Could be BV. Get to your GP for a swab and some antibiotics.

thanks for the replies. It's definitely not the asparagus - wee smell thing. I've had that before and know it well Smile. I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday about something quite unrelated - I wonder if they'll let me ask about two things...

is it the loo? i only say this because we have carpet [boak] and every once in a while it gets whiffy round the loo..... i notice it when i sit down and has made me think it was me a couple of times.........

WinkyWinkola · 14/05/2011 22:07

Have you got a new partner? I only ask because this happened to me when I met dh. It was awful. I was tested for everything and all negative but it wasn't pleasant. Get it checked out ASAP and doc won't bat an eyelid when you tell him or her.

NettoSuperstar · 14/05/2011 22:11

BV.
Stinks, but is easy to treat.
Get yourself to the GP.

mckenzie · 14/05/2011 22:13

definitely not the toilet as i notice it whatever toilet I use and no new partner (I wish Smile) .

One thing I was just now wondering... two weeks ago I decided (for reasons i wont bore you with) to eliminate wheat and yeast from my diet. The BV that VivaLeBeaver mentions is a yeast infection and I have seen it mentioned on another website that I glanced at when researching the diet changes. Could it be related do you think?

BelaLugosiinStripes · 15/05/2011 14:52

BV is bacterial vaginosis - so its caused by bacteria not yeast, NHS info here
Best to see the GP though, seems its unlikely to be due to your diet changes.

Any chance there's a tampon lurking in there? There have been a couple of threads lately where tampons have been accidentally left in and it's cause a 'wiff'.

If not, it's off to the Drs with you missy!

mckenzie · 15/05/2011 21:14

Off to check for rogue tampon......

You may need some help - others have required a Dr to remove them :(

mckenzie · 15/05/2011 21:55

I couldn't feel anything. Drs appt is Tuesday afternoon. Will have to wait until then for the mystery to be solved.
Thanks for your posts.

Are you in any pain?

Hope not, it's probably something some Ab's will sort out :) Let us know how you get on OK!
