Why has my urine sample been sent off for testing?

I've just registered at a new doctors and had to take in a urine sample. I was then asked to take in another one and have just had a call from the doctors to say that it's 'not quite right' and has been sent off for testing. I asked what they are testing for but she said she didn't know and was just passing on a message.

Any ideas what can be picked up from a urine sample? I'm not unwell and don't have a urine infection. I'm a little bit concerned tbh.

I'd phone back and ask them to go ask the doctor what it's being tested for, whilst you are on the line.

IT's quite normal to do a test with a new doctors as it gives them a general overview of your health. Regarding them needing another one, if the first was contaminated then the lab wouldn't be able to use it. This happens a lot, especially if not a midstream sample. I would try not to worry unnecesarily Smile

at the gp surgery the only do a "dip stick" test.
if this shows a bad result, a sample is sent to the lab to test for bacteria for example.
you could just have a "silent" uti infection.
