Feeling drunk with fever and sweats

Two weeks ago I started feeling a bit light headed and dizzy with headaches. Last weekend I got much worse and I now feel permanently drunk and out of it. I can not figure out the real tempeture. I am either sweating buckets and opening all windows or so cold I have uncontrollable shaking, even wrapped up in many blankets duvets etc.

Monday doctor said I had an urine infection gave me antibiotics.

No change.

Todays doctor said urine results were clear and that it is an inner ear infection and gave me more pills. Pharmacy woman said I couldn't take them due to breastfeeding and there is no alternative treatment.

Rang doctor back and he said it would go away in a week or so. I begged for stronger antibiotics but he doesn't see a need :(

What can I do ?

I feel drunk all the time, struggle with the stairs, children, house. I am tired all the time. I can't stop crying today. I know ear infections are minor things but I can't stand the though of feeling like this for another 7 days OR MORE. :(

How does an ear infection give me shivers and sweats ?

I can't find the med entry on Lactnet or in the Hale book and have left a message for the woman on the BFN drugline. But if I RELALY can't take these meds what can I do ?

www.menieres-disease.ca/menieres_signs_symptoms.htm

Does any of this sound familiar?

IngridBergman · 12/05/2011 12:48

I'm wondering if you might have mastitis.

I've felt like this with it before. Do you have any pain at all with the feeding?

Babieseverywhere · 12/05/2011 13:01

Amberleaf, I permanently have tinnitus and I already am deaf in one ear and some hearing loss in the other. My symptoms have lasted nearly 2 weeks straight, that article talks about attacks lasts a few hours so I don't think it is that.

IngridBergman, Thanks for the suggestion of mastitis. I am fairly sure I don't have this, nursing is going well and I have no lumps or red patches and my breasts are not hot, tender or changed in any respect.

Okay, I thought it was a bit of a long shot but do remember having it and not connecting it with breastfeeding for some reason, I just felt much as you describe without the symptoms of breast pain or whatever.

Hope you do manage to shake it off. What antibiotics are you on/supposed to be on? Maybe someone here can advise if they are generally safe...I know most are.

Babieseverywhere · 12/05/2011 13:31

The antibiotics are breastfeeding safe but they are not working :( I'm on day four of seven and feel the same.

The drug I can't take is Betahistine Hydrochloride it would of helped to mask the symptoms, make me feel less drunk.

My mum has Menieres and has attacks lastings days, so maybe worth asking the doctor?

Hope you get some answers and feel better soon. x

Found out eventually (thanks to bfn drugline lady) that I can take anti dizzy drug
However it doesn't work for everybody and apparantly it doesn't work for me.

On the bright side IF it is inner ear infection I should start to feel better shortly.

Amberleaf, Hopeing I don't have your mothers illness, as it doesn't seem to have any treatment, so I am sticking to curable ear infection. ;)

I hope you dont have it too! its not nice but thankfully its not constant and you can go years without an attack.

Fingers crossed for an ear infection then! and of course a speedy recovery Smile
