How long before you figured out thats what it was?

I got diagnosed really early - at the six week check. I didn't realsie what it was until I ended up in tears in front of my gp and he suggested it might be pnd.

I didn't have PND although thats what my GP said it was.

It hit me exactly 2 weeks after dd was born.

My dh thought it was just a touch of the baby blues and that it would pass, my mum on the other hand knew exactly what it was, A heightened state of anxiety.
Went to the GP who gave me anti d's, I didn't take them and then when I had a chat with my HV she pointed out from my questionaire thing that it wasn't PND but anxiety.

SPARKLER1 · 09/11/2005 13:26

I think I had it within a few weeks of dd being born but didn't admit to it or seek help until she was 13 months old.

hellsbells4 · 09/11/2005 13:28

Nearly a full year after dd's birth. Burst into tears over routine smear.

Helenemjay · 09/11/2005 13:32

Had it after ds1's birth, although i never had it diagnosed until ds2 was born and i was such a state, dd is now 8 weeks old and im fearing the worst! - cant tell if it PND rearing its ugly head or just worn out, tired and, in need of some time-out!??! When you have had PND once can you tell when you've got it again?? not sure wether or not to see GP or not?

Mine didn't start until dd was 8 months old. I only went for help when she was 3.5, and I still have it now, a year later.

If you have even the slightest suspicion that it may be PND, go and have a chat with the GP or the HV - nip it in the bud as soon as you can. I can't help but think that if I'd gone for treatment sooner instead of later I wouldn't still be having problems with it.

Erm it was picked up by that questionaire they do at 6 weeks is it ? and then confirmed by me crying all over the H.V.

Helenemjay · 09/11/2005 13:39
