Early menopause?

I am 40 and I fear I may be suffering from EM. With the exception of sweats/flushes, my periods have gone bonkers, I have disturbed sleep, vaginal dryness and have had recurrent UTIs. All seem to be symptoms.

I went to my GP to discuss because I have also had mid cycle bleeding. She took swabs which are clear. I am waiting on an ultrasound at the hospital to check for fibroids but she did say it could be menopause.

I am not ready for this! Had anyone else had it early? I am not sure what to expect if it is.

my symptoms were similar and to be honest keep coming and going!!! Mine started at your age (am 44 now) but lately have settled an dam sleeping again, yes went bonkers too. Best thing I did was join a gym to take my mind off it.
Its very frustrating, the sleep loss drains you, the lack of concentration(Argh) sorry what was I saying?? And the bloody embarrassing vaginal dryness, sorry I am no help, but you are not alone.

Thanks coansha. Good to know I am not alone. I can cope with most things but not the periods. They are really getting me down.
