Oy oy and runners, should I be feeling this increasingly poorly three days post half marathon, tempted to go to a&e

Silly ol' me did it at 4 days notice, and furthest I've done was 10k race for life last year.

Felt achey but fine sunday and monday, just bad blood sugar crashing, nausea, shivers etc.

So have taken it easy. But today I'm coming out in bruises all up my legs. Went back to work, taught some classes ( I instruct pilates and kiddies street dance), came out gasping for breath (and I wasn't even after the marathon)

Now I'm getting palpitations, pins and needles up my legs, pins in my shoulders and feel like I could just lay down and die.

Is this normal?

Really don't want to be the girl laughed at for rocking up to a &e cos she did a little run...

For christs sake! Call the ambulance. Would you rather see dcs worried faces or have then at the funeral? You need to take this seriously you've had the advice on here repeatedly for hours now. The I dont know why you're ignoring it and still here posting! only personwho can help you now is yourself. You have children, man up and take the responsibility to get checked out. Call 999 now.

Tuggy · 12/05/2011 04:53

What happened? This is starting to sound like a wind up to be honest. How did you post when you felt that bad? And why ask for advice then ignore it for several hours?

Hope you get back to us OP if this was all real and hope you are OK

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 12/05/2011 07:25

Hope you are okay op.

Definitely not normal reaction to running.

lubeybooby · 12/05/2011 07:33

How are you OP... for gods sake get seen by someone quickly if you haven't already

crabb · 12/05/2011 09:27

This was very concerning, rather it was a wind up than genuine. If not, hope you're getting treatment OP!

aleene · 12/05/2011 10:16

OP, I hope you are okay. Please let us know.

GapsAGoodUn · 12/05/2011 13:16

I don't think this was a wind up - purely due to the time of day when the op was posting.

I am hoping that she has been ordered to go home and rest, and that it's not, as I suspect, something a lot more scary that means she is being kept in.

Painted - I really hope that you are ok.

foxinsocks · 12/05/2011 13:23

hope you are ok....whatever it is, sounds utterly horrific.

Butterbur · 12/05/2011 14:02

It could be exercise induced rhabdomyolysis, or breakdown of muscles.

Hope you have gone to A&E now, and are OK.

larrygrylls · 12/05/2011 14:15

hmm, a half marathon is not that much exercise for a fit individual. It sounds very strange.

Why on earth people think it is a wind up, though, I find completely bizarre. I imagine the OP is in hospital, and for a while.

TobyLerone · 12/05/2011 14:25

Hope you're ok, OP.

ilovesprouts · 12/05/2011 14:35

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 12/05/2011 16:52

Hope you are feeling better op.

Do come back and tell us how you are doing.

Buda · 12/05/2011 16:53

Well I have read that with my heart in my mouth.

Hope you are ok OP.

WishIWasRimaHorton · 12/05/2011 16:58

a half marathon (in your title) is 13.1 miles. a marathon (which you later call it) 26.2. you said you ran 23 miles. which was it?

WishIWasRimaHorton · 12/05/2011 16:59

sorry - 23.5 was what you said it was. neither half nor mara distance that one.
