Gone from a spate of no periods to really heavy flooding

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm on day 5 of a flooding clotting period and it hurts to high heaven. This is after a few months of no periods so i'm assuming it's several months worth of period, but i'm worried this will become a regular occurance now :(

Anyone able to reassure me?

How many months? Could you have been pregnant and this is a miscarriage? :(

Hardhatonamission · 11/05/2011 19:31

4 months. I did a pregnancy test every 4 or so weeks and always came back negative so unless it got under the radar... :( if it carries on into tomorrow i'm going to go to the GP's as i've been really dizzy with it too. I really feel for anyone who has anything vaguely like this every month :(

Hi Hardhat, thank you for posting as you have reminded me to go back to my doctor (again) about this problem.

to me it seems like my womb is simply not emptying itself when it should, however this is probably oversimplifying it, and i do think that this issue is probably more complex than 'just a blockage'

I get no period for many weeks (whether i am on the pill or not, but definitely worse when not on pill) I had a scan which showed nothing unusual and bloods came back clear. still a mystery and docs (as always) are reluctant to do anything as there is no obvious physical problem.

Do you find you often get PMT, but then no period? it may just be me, or that your PMT is totally out of sych with the arrival of your period?

I dont know what to suggest except to go to the doctor, which is what i will be doing i had forgotten about this problem until i saw your post, as it is so infrequent.

Hoe you get on ok at doctors

Iggly · 12/05/2011 14:48

Did the GP help? Might be worth thinking about going on the pill to see if that regulates things.

nunnyfickname · 12/05/2011 16:39

tbh no. the first one i saw was a male and so he just told me to make an appointment with any female gp as 'obviously they will know more about this' Hmm
the second one I saw examined my stomach, did an internal and referred me for a scan which came back clear. i have not been back since, as i started on the pill again after meeting my dp and while they are still really irregular they are not as bad as when i am not on the pill.
I have a few health issues in general (bipolar, fibromyalgia and a couple of other things) so I have been 'blaming it' on the stress my body is under and the amount and variety of medications i take.

Hardhatonamission · 12/05/2011 18:52

Best of luck Nunny. I also have fibromyalgia wonder if it might be medication related Hmm

i dunno, i am not on any meds for fibro (doc wont refer me, maybe i am not asking right) i am on AD's and i am bipolar also, but not on meds for it right now.
very interesting that you also have fibro. how are you getting on at the moment with it? what treatment have you been offered? i have been given a free gym pass, however i live too far away from the gym to be able to get there, work out and get home without doing some serious damage.

does it make you worry about your fertility? i am seriously worried about mine!

let me know if you get to the bottom of this, or find anyone else with similar prob.

TMI alert

....those clots you speak of, i have them they are so awful, its like when you have just had a baby and keep dropping chunks of placenta into your knickers and down your leg and its really stringy and BLACK whats that all about?

do you have any other wierd body things?check out my post in general health about leaky nipples if you dare....
