Can someone explain hormones during a cycle?

Im trying to monitor my mood and cycle to see how they are linked. It all follows on from original PND 12 years ago.

At the moment Im not completely responding to the low dose AD that has worked in the past and I think there is some kind of pattern linked to my cycle but it doesnt follow the standard 'ok for first couple of weeks - then PMT for the 2nd'.

My GP is not keen on hormone tests. (Im 41 and have also started to get night sweats - she thinks it is prob earlyish perimenopause but wouldnt be any treatment so not worth testing.)

Anyway Id really like to know what actually happening each month. So things like when are progesterone/oestrogen highest or lowest. What happens to hormones when ovulating

Thanks for any help.
