My tablets have given me diarrhea and stomach cramps, any advice on how to ease the pain would be greatly appreciated

I have a suspected stomach ulcer and have been prescribed Lansoprazole whilst awaiting blood test results.

They have given really painful stomach cramps and this morning I had terrible diarrhea.

Any advice greatly appreciated. The suspected stomach ulcer pains were bad enough, this on top is absolute agony.

Unfortunately your symtoms are a side effect of Lansoprazole. You might find they symptoms settle over a few days but if they don't then return to the GP as there are other drugs you can be prescribed to ease the pain from the stomach ulcer.

Is there anything I can do to ease the side effects.

I have work and 2 young children, I can't be in agony like this

Really? Arse.
I was given that dug on Monday to stop the indigestion and vomiting/diarrhoea caused by another drug.
It hasn't stopped so I figured it wasn't working, but it seems I'm now taking two drugs that cause it!

Time to go back the GP I think.

MrsOtter Please don't take the Loperamide....yes it will stop the diarrhea but it can cause constipation too and that will affect the gut. Rather you see the GP and talk about it than take something over the counter, particularly because there is isuues with your gut already.
The drug Annie is taking isn't for a gut related illness hence taking the Loperamide presents no problems and is effective in combatting the side effects of the Metformin safely. Your GP may give the go ahead to take Loperamide but you do definitely need to consult first. Or the local Pharmacist, ask for a private consultation, they offer these free. The GP must still be informed of the drug you are using because of your history.
