Can a male GP do a smear test

without a nurse/other dr/3rd party there?
Just realised that I booked a test and it is with the only male DR in the clinic [I did not request a specific DR just a specific 2 days] There is no nurse at clinic just GP's I have no issue with the DR being male but don't want a secretary [only other female] in the room so will he do the test or should I ask DP/Mum to come to make sure it is done?
Advice plse before I just cancel and do an ostrich impression and stick my head in the sand.

Male Dr will do it alone unless you request an escort I think

He said it was fine to do it alone but preferred someone else there for both his and the patients sake
