About 2 weeks ago,my teenage son developed about 10 large spots on his upper legs-they looked like midge bites, but grew to be the size of a 50 pence piece.A couple of them became very sore, swollen and hot to the touch, developed 'heads' that then broke and released a fairly clear liquid along with some blood. They then scabbed over and now have almost disappeared, however,a couple of new spots have occurred, and I have got just one about 4 days ago which is extremely tender and on my bum, making it difficult to sit!! We have a cat but she is treated for fleas and they do not look like flea bites anyway. Neither of us have reacted to midge bites like this before--is there a new 'super midge'out there ???

Ah! Have just done a MN search on insect bites and got loads of info ! seems this is not at all uncommon and not really to be concerned about unless there is any 'tracking'. Bloody hate midges!!
