Morning stiffness postpartum

Had my lovely DS 5.5 months ago; am 41. have so many aches now! Some are obvious - car seat heavy, repetitive feeling in wrist due to holding him/feeding him - but in morning my feet and ankles are very sore and stiff. Sleep at top of house and immediately go down the stairs and have to take stairs almost one at time like a crab. Once in kitchen, heated up milk, and back upstairs I'm fine. Going down again is normal.

Always did a lot of exercise prior to pregnancy and always had a dodgy knee and prone to a bit of stiffness. Have never ever walked as much as I have now, though, that's for sure...

Is this normal? Will it pass? Have just started taking oils, glucosamine etc.
Should I be worried?

Thanks
x

Don't know if this will make you feel better or worse but my dd2 is now 4 and I have had joint stiffness in my legs and pelvis since she was born. Things like getting out of the car etc made me like an old woman (I was 34 when she was born). I just learned to avoid certain positions. But, on the plus side, I now do yoga 2-3 times a week and the stiffness/pain has all but gone. I do think that as we get older we struggle to 'bounce back' as quickly from the phenomenal changes of pregnancy and childbirth (all straightforward in my case).

I had v similar and was advised to take vitamin D supplement, it deffo helped me and I'm not a supplement taker as a rule...

I am exactly the same! Hobble like an old woman every morning and take the stairs one at a time! One of my friends is also like this so I will pass on the advice about the supplement.

I'm the same. My DS is now 14 months and I still get this, esp in my hands and feet upon waking! Think I will be taking the tips to take vitamin D now. :)

joint pain can be a symptom of thyroid probelms which are pretty common after childbirth. Might be worth getting checked out by your GP.

I've just ordered Vit D and also a good quality liquid glucoasmine. Apparently that's great for joints too.

Good (but not, IYKWIM) that it's not just me experiencing this! it does freak me out a bit.

Oooh I'm like this on getting up and have been for ages. Dd3 is 4 though so not pregnancy related. Will have to look at supplements.....

I was badly stiff and creaky with my first. Specially at the end of the day when finally sitting down, I felt like I needed oiling when I got back up. And in the morning my feet had sort of curled up and needed to be stretched out before I could walk flat on them.

It went away after stopping breastfeeding so possibly vitamin issues but I think it was more likely a relaxin (sp?) issue but do go to the doctors to rule out anything else.
