WHy? Sad Fed up of only getting a 2 week break between heavy periods. Any ideas on why this happens?

I don't know why but was in the same boat.
Can you be on the micro-pill (microgynon)? It made my periods very light so help in that sense.
And know that I am reaching menopause the time in between periods is spreading...

How old are you? I went through this last summer and it drove me mad. Went to the GP and got checked for various things. Nothing found. Went on ADs (for sep issue) and cycle returned to normal.

Oh! I just assumed that your cycle has always been like that (like mine).
If it is a recent things, Yes go to your GP.
A had a bout of very heavy bleeding and 15 days cycles when younger and it was a functional cyste on the ovaries. Benign, and goes away after a few months on some pill.

If you are old enough to be approaching the menopause, it could be perimenopausal - mine did this for some years before becoming more irregular, in my early 40s. But wise to check with a doctor anyway, and particularly if you are younger.

Mine are the same. 2 week breaks between heavy week long periods :( Mine have always been like this.

Oh forgot to say, early menopause runs in my family, tends to happen early 40s

rainbowinthesky · 09/05/2011 07:36

Hi, Thanks for replies.
I am nearly 37 and have always had heavy periods and it's not unusual for me to have such short time between periods. I did go to the gp last year and they suggested the coil but the thought makes me shudder and I've not read great things about it on here.
There arent many women in my family and i dont know the older ones to ask re menopause.

I've got the same malarky going on - since 6 month DS was born, have had 5 periods, all 20-22 days apart [what a bitch emoticon].

The same month I conceived I was told I had very high FSH levels (actually, they were shocked I got pregnant), and in line for an early menopause. I've just turned 41.

I've assumed it's perimenopause but I'm having all hormones checked at the end of June

How many days do you get inbetween periods on a "normal" cycle?
