Should put this in the tips section too really.

I have noticed on a few threads I lurk around that some poor babies are suffering with the old nappy rash.

a suggestion from my USA friend (which I have tried).

Cornflour - liberally sprinkled over bum when you put on a nappy.

it really worked for my DS when nothing else(not even GP prescribed cream)did. he was crawling /walking & nappy sounded a bit funny, but I was ready tp try anything.

anyone else tried wierd & wonderful cures for ailments?

My parents were told by an English doctor almost 40 years ago to rub a potato on warts to remove them. It worked for one, maybe both my brothers. Then I had them...

With great ceremony one night, reading excerpts from Macbeth (you can tell my parents had high sense of dramatics), we sliced a potato in half, rubbed on my wart, and (candlelit procession to the back garden), proceeded outdoors to bury the other half of the potato (this was actually part of the English doctor's instructions!). Still chanting bits of MacBeth all the while.

Upon arriving back in the house, knock on the door. The police had had a report of a peeping tom bothering people in the flats next door. Coppers were instantly suspicious of what we were up to. Entirely convinced my dad might be perpetrator. Exit my dad & police to our wide rear garden where in the long long never mown grass were two definitve foot prints. The peeping tom, trapped between police arriving at flats on the one side and witches on the other, had made a mad dash for it when we (the witches) returned indoors.

At least my dad didn't get arrested.
I never remember the potato cure. English Doc. also told us we must never dig the potato up or warts would come back; maybe that's why I have one, right now....

We've been using cornflour on the kids instead of of talc since they were born, as conrflour isn't harmful. Everyone thinks I'm loopy - glad I'm not the only one then!

Breathing in and out in a paper bag is the only hiccup cure I know that works, and it also works for mild car-sickness.
